Hi Guys

I have talked Andrew Dewater into buying a C/L kit and he has been building it under instruction at the Otech workshop.

He has found it isn't that hard and I am finding that he is actually enjoying the build.

ARF cant fullfill this enjoyment.

Its coming out fairly good ( home made tank and all) and the tissue covering supplied with the kit is great to show him the old paste , dope and paint method we alll used to do.

 MAY THE NEXT GENERATION START AT C/L AND ACTUALLY BUILD BEFORE IT IS ALL GONE!!!!!!

Like we all did way back.

Combat Capers by Owen

A long time ago there was the dark ages, 

evil things happened

The Africans-Europeans and other

countries where effected.

Then it was gone.

Later on in time someone invented

control line planes then without reason

the curse has come back to haunt us..

The first wave voodoo.

Jason George was struck down by this.

But as we all know, we glue and build

them by sticking pins in 'em. Not scary.

The second wave Grim reaper

Owen Cameron was struck down by this.

But as we all know a bowling ball rolls down

the alley fast and eventually hits something.

The third wave

Lyal Cameron had a problem

From one line on top of the building board

from the balsa dust-glue drops and other

junk underneath the board, pure evil was

resurrected.What happens now is not known.

It's been a bit quiet on the C/L front lately so I thought I'd throw in a couple of  photos taken earlier this year.

Push Rod Failure

Alan Beggs' (Townsville) own design profile stunter didn't survive the test flight.
Alan said it was very responsive and flew well until the push rod
disconnected halfway through the flight resulting in a wingover
and power dive into the deck.
The fuselage was foam sheeted with balsa.
Oh well. Back to the drawing board!

I had a similar problem with my Blue Pants a few weeks ago at George Town. One of the leadouts pulled out of the bellcrank, causing the plane to wingover and bury itself to the leading edge in the ground. The only damage was a broken prop! The bent spring on the needle valve easily straightened. I build 'em STRONG!! The leadout is now repaired and the prop replaced. Just waiting for some good weather to fly it.

The latest project from Bob McKenzie's workshop in Townsville is his All American. Powered by a GMS .32 with Top Flite 10 x 6 prop. Test flight tomorrow, Sunday 16th Oct, 2011.
